The Historical Museum – Isperih is a cultural and scientific institution that preserves, studies and promotes the cultural and historical heritage of the municipality of Isperih and the Ludogorie region. The museum showcases the evolution of local history from prehistoric times to the present day.
The museum’s collections include archaeological finds, ethnographic materials, works of art, archival documents, photographs and everyday objects that reflect the traditions, economy and spirituality of the region’s population. Of particular note is the Sboryanovo archaeological reserve, which includes the Thracian tomb near the village of Sveshtari and is listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
Another site within the Sboryanovo Archaeological Reserve is the functioning Shiite temple, which was built on the ruins of the ancient Thracian sanctuary known as Demir Baba Teke.
The museum’s new acquisitions include an art gallery showcasing works by Bulgarian and international artists, an archaeological exhibition revealing the cultural diversity of ancient societies in the region, and a specialized hall called the Museum Treasury, which exhibits valuable artefacts of exceptional historical and artistic significance.
Through its exhibitions, scientific research and educational initiatives, the Historical Museum – Isperih has established itself as a guardian of the Ludogorie region’s cultural memory and historical identity.
