MUNICIPALITY OF SHUMEN

This is where Bulgaria begins! Our land is home to the first Bulgarian capitals, Pliska and Preslav, and the global symbol of Bulgaria – the Madara Rider. Above Shumen, the monument “Creators of the Bulgarian State” proudly rises, narrating Bulgaria’s history through sculptural art. The Shumen Plateau preserves medieval rock monasteries and unique pristine nature. Here lies the Shumen Fortress – the medieval history of Shumen. In the old part of the city, we offer Revival-era coffee on sand. You can visit the house museums of Pancho Vladigerov, Panayot Volov, Dobri Voynikov, and Lajos Kossuth, as well as the rich exposition of the Regional Historical Museum of Shumen.
