Situated in the town of Troyan, this is the only specialized museum in Bulgaria that presents the craftwork together with the tools and techniques used by the local artisans.
The first hall presents the atmosphere of a market day on the main market street (charshiya) from the Revival period. A place where traditions, encounters, and the spirit of craftsmanship come alive.
The next three halls trace the development of ceramics from пrehistory to the birth of the traditional Troyan decorative style.
On the second floor, visitors can explore woodworking and metalworking crafts, as well as traditional textiles and clothing.
In the tenth hall, the visitors will find valuable donations and the stories of the museum’s donators.
The exposition also includes reconstructions of a pottery workshop, workshop for wooden flasks, and the second floor of a Balkan-style house, featuring its two typical rooms: “kushti” and “soba”.
Throughout the exposition, QR codes present the processes of decoration of various items. The museum also offers a VR walk through the old market street (charshiya), that makes the visitors to feel like into the heart of the old Troyan.
