On March 11, Dr. Veselin Hadzhiangelov, a long-time archaeologist and director of the Tsari Mali Grad Museum Complex and the Historical Museum in Samokov, reveals more about the archaeological site
For anyone interested in cultural tourism, history, archaeology and the past of Bulgaria, March 11 is more than an important date. Because it is then, at 10:30 a.m., that we will learn more about the Tsari Mali Grad fortress. Studies show that its construction began in the period 364-378, during the reign of Emperor Valens. Over the course of history, the site went through three construction periods. Today, at its foot, the picturesque village of Belchin is located.
The event, where we will learn more about the Tsari Mali Grad fortress, is part of the accompanying program of the tourist exhibition Holiday&SPA Expo 2025. The organizer is the Tsari Mali Grad Museum Complex, with the assistance of Our Heritage.
The format will offer a meeting with the lecturer Dr. Veselin Hadzhiangelov. He is a long-time archaeologist and director of the Tsari Mali Grad Museum Complex and the Historical Museum – Samokov. The archaeologist will immerse us in the topic “The Tsari Mali Grad Museum Complex and the transformation of such a site into a resource for cultural tourism”, from 10.30 to 11.30, in the Holiday Classics hall.
Highlights of the event dedicated to Tsari Mali Grad
The event will start with more information about the object as an archaeological site and the pilgrimage tourism of the fortress and in Bulgaria.
Dr. Veselin Hadzhiangelov will introduce the audience to the process of restoration and socialization of such a site, and then to the results of the socialization of such a cultural site. He will answer the question “How are multiple businesses created in an entire region?”.
During the event, we will discover the advantages of Tsari Mali Grad and its surroundings in relation to their geographical location. Dr. Veselin Hadzhiangelov will reveal the way in which modern technologies support this type of site.
