MUNICIPALITY OF PANAGYURISHTE

Град Панагюрище е разположен в живописната котловина на Същинска Средна гора в близост до центровете София, Пловдив, Пазарджик.

Селището възниква върху земя, населявана от дълбока древност. Името си получава от тържищата, провеждани край р. Луда Яна. В околностите му се намират следи от миналото, свидетелстващи за траките. Най-впечатляващи са Панагюрско златно и Панагюрското сребърно съкровище.

На сегашното си място градът се оформя към XV в. По време на османското иго е със специален статут. През епохата на Възраждането се разгръщат предприемаческия дух и обществената енергия на панагюрци.

Градът е символ на националноосвободителните борби на българите против османското робство, чийто върховен израз е Априлската епопея 1876 г.

Панагюрище се променя и развива и е център на иновативно и технологично производство, атрактивно място за отдих и туризъм.

Panagyurishte is located in the picturesque valley of the Sashtinska Sredna Gora mountain in a close proximity to the city centers of Sofia, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik.

The town was founded on areas inhabited since the ancient past. It got its name after the open-air markets that took place along the Luda Yana river. Traces of the past evidencing that Thracians had lived there can be observed in its surroundings. The Golden Treasure of Panagyurishte and the Silver Treasure of Panagyurishte are the most impressive among them.

The town was shaped on its current location in the 15th century. It had a special statutе during the Ottoman Yoke. The entrepreneurial spirit and social vigour of the inhabitants of Panagyurishte grew during the Renaissance.

The town stands for the national liberation struggles of the Bulgarians against the Ottoman slavery as its supreme manifestation was the April Epopee in 1876.

Panagyurishte is changing and evolving being an innovation and technology industrial center and an attractive place for recreation and tourism.
